Wild horse stampedes, often triggered by predators, noise, or human interference, are a documented danger. A 2016 article highlights the “dangers of summer stampedes for wild horses,” particularly when they are chased by helicopters, which can lead to stress, overheating, and injury.
Controversial wild horse roundups
A “Point Wild Horse Stampede” may be a reference to a particular roundup. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has conducted controversial wild horse roundups, sometimes referred to by activists as a “stampede”.
